SMX GAMEPLAY
The Supermotocross World Championship is the newest addition to professional dirt bike racing world. Bringing hybrid race tracks with a blend of a outdoor Pro Motocross track and a indoor stadium style Supercross track, challenging the best 22 rider on bike setup and skills/technique across the board. 2024 marks the second year that the top 22 riders in both 450 and 250 will be invited to compete in a 3 round championship with a $10 million dollar purse on the line. The biggest purse in our sport! It all kicks off on Sept. 7th in Concord, NC at zMax Dragway, round 2 is Sept 14th in Fort Worth, TX at Texas Motor Speedway and the finals on Sept. 21st in Las Vegas, NV at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway!
So now that you have an idea on how the pros are competing, lets get into the fantasy gameplay. This will also be a hybrid of the MX and SX gameplay with some SMX sprinkled on top. It will be a game of strategy. Each player will select a team of riders like the MX Game, only this time you will select TWO 450 riders, TWO 250 riders and ONE Wildcard. Pulling from the SX Gameplay, you will select a new team each weekend, and will have one question to answer. Example, “will a factory rider be in the last chance qualifier? Yes/No”. Heres where it gets interesting and the strategy comes into play. Once you have picked a rider at one of any of the 3 rounds, you may NOT pick those riders again in any other round. Do you play your best hand in Round One? Round Two maybe? or do you put all your chips in at the Finals in Las Vegas? Here’s something to consider, the players scoring will match SMX World Championship scoring. Round 1 is identical to our MX Gameplay scoring, 1st = 25 points, 2nd = 22 points, 3rd = 20 and so on. At Round 2 these number double, 1st = 50, 2nd = 44, 3rd = 40 and so on. AT THE FINALS….. these number TRIPLE! 1st = 75, 2nd = 66, 3rd = 60! So where and when you pick what you deem to your best pick could make a HUGE difference!
It all goes down this September!
HOW SUPERCROSS AND MOTOCROSS EFFECT YOUR START IN THE SMX CHAMPIONSHIP.
Much like the pros, you will be awarded points each week going towards a joint point standing of the Supercross and Motocross season combined. Although these points are not going towards a championship you can win, they can effect your chances of winning the SMX championship. How? Well, these points determine your start position in the SMX point standings exactly like the pros. So say at the end of pro motocross season, you are leading these combined points with 500 points. You will then start off the SMX championship 1st. in points with 12 points. This will then continue on with 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on with 11, 10, 9 points and so on ending on 1 point for 12th.
